It begins in plain English

The first chapter, "Your Kundli, in plain words", sums up the whole book in everyday language: what is best supported in your chart and what to watch. You can stop there, or go on into the technical chapters, which show their working.

Every technical statement carries its basis: the house, the lord, the period or the table it comes from. The "Choices We Made" chapter names each convention used, such as the ayanamsa, the house system and the node, so a pandit can read the book alongside their own methods.

Dashas, transits, the year

Timing: dashas, transits and your year

• Vimshottari: the nine mahadashas from the Moon's nakshatra at birth, with dates, and your Sade Sati passages.
• What is running now (Grah Sthiti): the influences active today, dated and ranked, never written as a forecast.
• The next twelve months: when Saturn, Jupiter, Rahu and Ketu change sign, and which of your houses they cross.
• Your five years: year by year, then month by month, each line with its calculation.
• Varshaphala: your annual chart for this year of life, its Muntha, year lord and Mudda dasha.
• Other dashas: Yogini, Ashtottari and Jaimini Chara dasha, in the appendix for your pandit.

Your life, area by area

Eight domain chapters cover marriage, career, wealth, children, education, property, travel and health, with health last and kept to placements. Separate chapters go deeper into career and business, wealth and property, foreign travel and relocation, and children. A synthesis chapter weighs every life area against the period running now.

The health chapter is gentle by design: it describes what the chart traditionally points to, names the houses behind it, and reminds you that it is not medical advice.

• Is the Janma Granth in English?
