One-on-One Puja by Video Call for Families in the USA

Families anywhere in the USA can book a puja performed live for them on a one-on-one video call with an experienced pandit in India. We schedule it in your local time, Eastern, Central, Mountain, Pacific, Alaska or Hawaii, and compute any muhurat for your own city, so a Satyanarayan Katha on a Saturday morning in New Jersey or a Diwali Lakshmi puja at sunset in California happens at the right moment where you are.

01Booking across time zones from the USA

India is 9½ to 13½ hours ahead of the US mainland, depending on your zone and on daylight saving time (India does not change its clocks). A Saturday 10 am puja in New York is Saturday evening in India; a Saturday 10 am puja in California is close to Saturday midnight in India. The pandit joins at the Indian time that matches yours, so you only ever deal with your own clock.

Weekend mornings and evenings are the easiest slots for most US families, and they suit the pandit's day too. Weekday evenings on the East Coast fall in the early morning in India, which also works well for many pujas.

We schedule in your local time. When a puja needs a muhurat, it is computed for your city with the same panchang engine behind our Muhurta Finder: sunrise, the tithi and the nakshatra are worked out where you are, because they are what the muhurat rests on. The pandit joins from India at the matching Indian time, so you never have to convert anything yourself.

02How a one-on-one video puja works

The puja is performed live by an experienced pandit we work with, on a one-on-one video call with your family, not a shared stream. You keep the altar at home and do the offerings yourselves while the pandit leads:

  1. Book on WhatsApp: Message us on WhatsApp with the puja you want, your city and country, and your time zone. The button on this page fills in the puja and your time zone for you; you add your city.
  2. Choose the date and muhurat: We suggest dates and times in your own local time. Where the puja calls for a muhurat (an auspicious window), it is worked out from the panchang for the city you are in, not for India.
  3. Samagri arranged for you: The pandit arranges all the samagri for the puja, at no extra charge; you only need a clean, quiet place at home to sit for the call.
  4. Join the video call: At the agreed time you join a one-on-one video call with the pandit from your home altar, on WhatsApp video or Google Meet, whichever your family prefers. It is your family's call alone.
  5. Sankalp with your names and gotra: The pandit begins with the sankalp: the formal statement of the place, the date, the names of the family members, your gotra and the intention of the puja.
  6. The puja: The pandit recites the mantras and guides each offering step by step, so that the hands placing the flowers, the water and the lamp are your own.
  7. Aarti: The puja closes with aarti: you wave the lamp at your altar while the pandit sings, and the whole family can join in.
  8. Prasad guidance: The pandit tells you how to offer and share the prasad, and what to do afterwards with the flowers, the kalash water and the other offerings.

03Festival dates abroad

Hindu festivals follow the tithi (lunar day) and, for many festivals, the tithi at local sunrise or at a particular part of the day. Because sunrise and the tithi's start move with longitude, a festival can fall on a different calendar date where you live than in India.

In the USA this matters most for Diwali, Janmashtami, Maha Shivaratri and the Ekadashis, where US temples and Indian calendars sometimes list different dates. Diwali Lakshmi puja is held after sunset while Amavasya lasts, and US sunset is many hours after India's, so the US date and muhurat are computed separately. We always use your city's sky.

04Pujas families in the USA often book

Any other puja from our catalogue can be arranged the same way; ask on WhatsApp.

05Practical notes for your home

Indian grocery stores in most US metro areas stock puja samagri, though the pandit arranges all the samagri for the puja itself, at no extra charge. Many US apartments and homes have sensitive smoke alarms; for pujas with a havan, open a window, keep the fire very small, or ask the pandit for the lamp-only form.

Grandparents in India can join the same call, and since it is evening or night in India during the US morning, a weekend morning puja usually suits both households.

06Booking, payment and rescheduling

All bookings are made on WhatsApp. You pay on WhatsApp by UPI (in India), PayPal, USDT or card-to-USDT; nothing is paid on this website. Payments are not refundable, but you can reschedule up to two times if you tell us at least 48 hours before the puja (see our refund policy).

The call is on WhatsApp video or Google Meet, whichever your family prefers. The pandit performs the puja in Sanskrit and speaks Hindi; a team member who speaks English joins the live call to help families who prefer English.

If your family cannot attend live, the pandit performs the puja for you and we send you a video of it instead. It is either a live call or a video recording, never both: a live call is not recorded. The price, the date, the time and how long the puja takes are confirmed with you on WhatsApp when you book.

Frequently asked questions

Can we book a puja from the USA?
Yes. Families anywhere in the USA book on WhatsApp; we schedule the puja in your local time and compute any muhurat for your own city.
Is the muhurat calculated for India or for our US city?
For your city. A muhurat rests on local sunrise or sunset, the tithi and the nakshatra where you live, so we compute it for your location, not for India.
How do I book the puja by video call, and how do I pay?
Tap "Book on WhatsApp" and send the message with your city and time zone. We agree the date, the time and the details with you there. You pay on WhatsApp by UPI (in India), PayPal, USDT or card-to-USDT; nothing is paid on this website.
What if we need to change the date?
You can reschedule up to two times if you tell us at least 48 hours before the puja. Payments are not refundable; the refund policy page has the full terms.
