Across the miles

A puja for a loved one far away

Living abroad and want a puja for your parents in India, or the other way round? Book it for them: the pandit performs it with their names in the sankalp, and we send ONE shared Google Meet link so the whole family joins from wherever they are, in one call.

How it works

  1. Tell us who the puja is for, their city, and where the rest of the family will join from.
  2. We fix a time that suits every time zone and send one Google Meet link to share with the family.
  3. Everyone joins the same call; the pandit names the whole family in the sankalp.

Book a Lakshmi puja (लक्ष्मी पूजा) performed live for your family on a one-on-one video call. An experienced pandit we work with recites the sankalp with your names and gotra and leads the worship of Lakshmi, with Ganesha, while your family offers the lamps, flowers and sweets at your own altar, at the muhurat computed for your own city, anywhere in the world.

01What the Lakshmi Puja is, and when families hold it

Lakshmi is the goddess of prosperity, well-being and auspiciousness. Her best-known puja is on Diwali, on the Amavasya (new moon) of the month of Kartika in the purnimanta calendar (Ashvin in the amanta calendar), when families worship Lakshmi together with Ganesha in the evening, light lamps through the home and, in many trading families, worship the account books (chopda or bahi khata puja).

Families also hold a Lakshmi puja on Fridays, on Sharad Purnima (Kojagari Lakshmi puja in Bengal, Odisha and Assam), during Dhanteras and Varalakshmi Vratam, and when opening a business, a shop or a new account book.

02What the Lakshmi Puja is traditionally done for

  • Traditionally done for prosperity and stability in the home.
  • Traditionally done to bless a new business or a new source of income.
  • Traditionally done as gratitude for wealth already received.

When: on Fridays, on Diwali night, on Sharad Purnima, or when opening a business or new account.

03Count, duration, and what is included

The Shri Suktam once, 16 times or 108 times, with a havan in the upper packages. Typical durations are listed in each package below; the price, the date, the time and how long the puja takes are confirmed with you on WhatsApp when you book.

Included in every package:

  • Either a live call or a video recording of the puja if you cannot attend, never both
  • All samagri, arranged by the pandit at no extra charge
  • Sankalp in your family's names and gotra
  • Date and muhurat worked out for your city
  • Keepsake certificate after the puja (Certificate included)

Not included:

  • Shipping of prasad
  • Any in-person visit by a pandit

04How the Lakshmi Puja works by video call

The Lakshmi Puja is performed live by an experienced pandit we work with, on a one-on-one video call with your family. You stay at home, anywhere in the world, and do the offerings with your own hands while the pandit leads. The steps:

  1. Book on WhatsApp: Message us on WhatsApp with the puja you want, your city and country, and your time zone. The button on this page fills in the puja and your time zone for you; you add your city.
  2. Choose the date and muhurat: We suggest dates and times in your own local time. Where the puja calls for a muhurat (an auspicious window), it is worked out from the panchang for the city you are in, not for India.
  3. Samagri arranged for you: The pandit arranges all the samagri for the puja, at no extra charge; you only need a clean, quiet place at home to sit for the call.
  4. Join the video call: At the agreed time you join a one-on-one video call with the pandit from your home altar, on WhatsApp video or Google Meet, whichever your family prefers. It is your family's call alone.
  5. Sankalp with your names and gotra: The pandit begins with the sankalp: the formal statement of the place, the date, the names of the family members, your gotra and the intention of the puja.
  6. The puja: The pandit recites the mantras and guides each offering step by step, so that the hands placing the flowers, the water and the lamp are your own.
  7. Aarti: The puja closes with aarti: you wave the lamp at your altar while the pandit sings, and the whole family can join in.
  8. Prasad guidance: The pandit tells you how to offer and share the prasad, and what to do afterwards with the flowers, the kalash water and the other offerings.

On the call the pandit leads the Ganesh puja, the kalash puja and the worship of Lakshmi with the shodashopachara (sixteen offerings) or a shorter form, recites her stotras such as the Shri Suktam, and guides the lighting of lamps. For Diwali the pandit can include the worship of Kubera and of your account books or business ledger.

05Who it suits

It suits every family at Diwali, especially families abroad who want the puja at the right muhurat in their own city rather than at India's time. It also suits shop and business owners opening a new financial year, families who keep a Friday puja, and newly married couples celebrating their first Diwali together.

06Timing and muhurat

For Diwali, many panchangs prefer pradosh kaal, the period after sunset, while the Amavasya tithi lasts, and often a sthira (fixed) lagna within it, such as Taurus. Sunset and the lagna depend entirely on your city, so the Diwali muhurat in Toronto or Sydney is not India's muhurat converted to local time. We compute it for where you live. Friday pujas can be held in the morning or evening, as your family prefers.

07Booking, payment and rescheduling

All bookings are made on WhatsApp. You pay on WhatsApp by UPI (in India), PayPal, USDT or card-to-USDT; nothing is paid on this website. Payments are not refundable, but you can reschedule up to two times if you tell us at least 48 hours before the puja (see our refund policy).

The call is on WhatsApp video or Google Meet, whichever your family prefers. The pandit performs the puja in Sanskrit and speaks Hindi; a team member who speaks English joins the live call to help families who prefer English.

If your family cannot attend live, the pandit performs the puja for you and we send you a video of it instead. It is either a live call or a video recording, never both: a live call is not recorded. The price, the date, the time and how long the puja takes are confirmed with you on WhatsApp when you book.

Frequently asked questions

Can Diwali Lakshmi puja be done online for families abroad?
Yes. The pandit leads the puja by video while your family worships at home, at the muhurat computed for your city's sunset and the Amavasya tithi there.
Why is our Diwali muhurat different from India's?
The Diwali muhurat rests on local sunset and the lagna rising at your place, which differ from city to city. A muhurat converted from Indian time would not match your sky.
Can we include our business account books?
Yes. Tell us on WhatsApp, and the pandit includes the chopda or ledger puja; keep the book, a new pen and a red cloth on the altar.
How do I book the Lakshmi Puja by video call, and how do I pay?
Tap "Book on WhatsApp" and send the message with your city and time zone. We agree the date, the time and the details with you there. You pay on WhatsApp by UPI (in India), PayPal, USDT or card-to-USDT; nothing is paid on this website.
What if we need to change the date?
You can reschedule up to two times if you tell us at least 48 hours before the puja. Payments are not refundable; the refund policy page has the full terms.
