Who is in Sade Sati in 2027? It depends on the date. Saturn begins 2027 in Pisces (Meena), moves into Aries (Mesha) on 3 June 2027, then turns back into Pisces on 20 October 2027 during its retrograde. So three Moon signs are in Sade Sati at any moment, but which three changes twice in the year.

What changes on 3 June 2027

When Saturn enters Aries on 3 June:

• Taurus (Vrishabha) Moon: Sade Sati begins, in its rising phase, because Saturn is now in the sign just before your Moon sign.
• Aries (Mesha) Moon: moves from the rising phase into the peak phase, with Saturn over your Moon sign itself.
• Pisces (Meena) Moon: moves from the peak into the setting phase, the last stretch.
• Aquarius (Kumbha) Moon: Sade Sati pauses, because Saturn has left the sign after yours.

What changes on 20 October 2027

Saturn then moves backwards (retrograde) and re-enters Pisces on 20 October 2027. For the rest of the year the picture goes back to how it was in spring:

• Taurus Moon: the Sade Sati that began in June pauses until Saturn returns to Aries.
• Aries Moon: back to the rising phase for now.
• Pisces Moon: back to the peak phase.
• Aquarius Moon: the setting phase runs again for a while. By our engine's count, Aquarius Moon's Sade Sati finally ends when Saturn leaves Pisces for good in early 2028.

This back-and-forth is normal. Saturn spends about two and a half years in each sign, but near a sign boundary its retrograde loops can carry it in and out more than once. Our engine treats such a loop as part of the same Sade Sati, not a new one.

What Sade Sati means

Sade Sati (साढ़े साती, "seven and a half") is the name Vedic astrology gives to the years when Saturn passes through three signs in a row: the sign before your Moon sign, your Moon sign, and the sign after it. Each takes about two and a half years, which makes roughly seven and a half in all.

It is often spoken of with fear, but it is better read as a long, demanding season than as a curse. Traditional texts tie Saturn to discipline, patience, work and responsibility. Many people find these years bring hard lessons along with real, lasting gains. Nothing about Sade Sati is certain to happen, and no remedy is required. If you would like to do something, simple, low-cost practices are common: steady routine, service to others, and prayer to Hanuman or Shani on Saturdays, according to your family's custom.

Signs not in Sade Sati

If your Moon sign is Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius or Capricorn, you are not in Sade Sati at any point in 2027. How these dates were worked out

The dates come from Proper Pandit's Sade Sati engine, which tracks Saturn's position in the sidereal (Lahiri) zodiac, the system used in Vedic astrology. We checked both 2027 sign changes against Drik Panchang's Saturn transit page for New Delhi on 31 October 2026, and the dates agree. We give dates only, not clock times: Saturn moves so slowly that small differences between calculation methods shift the exact hour of a sign change by an hour or more, while the date stays the same. Dates are in Indian Standard Time.
